Lolita
2 journalers for this copy...
I had to read this book for a "novels into films" class I took at UCLA. I wasn't expecting to like the book given it's subject matter but I ended up loving the book, reading it cover to cover in one marathon read. The back cover best describes what I came away with from the book: "Lolita is... the story of a hypercivilized European colliding with the cheerful barbarism of postwar America." The book for all its baggage is a road trip book and shares thematic ties with On the Road and Thelma and Louise. The act of sex parallels the trips that the main characters take along the U.S. highways.
I really have to pare down my collection of books. If I ever want to read this book again, I'll get another copy. In the meantime, I'm offering this book as a reverse relay to Rossella05.
