Received today. Thanks.
good book but was a slow starter! Wish she would have given actual recipes for the things she cooked. (she did mostly but not completely)

I'm taking this out of the Last Book Standing bookbox, thanks!
I really enjoyed this book! It was a good mystery, likable characters, and I loved that it was set in Arizona and on a ranch! I especially appreciated that the author has ranching experience so it was quite authentic.
Going into Affinity4books cozy mystery bookbox. Hope the next reader enjoys this & keeps it moving!

Loved it. So did my Mom!
Happy Birthday eponine38! Hope you enjoy these books!
Thank you, heartthumper! It looks like a fun read and I appreciate your generosity - not one, but two books of the same series for my birthday!
I almost hate to admit that I liked this continuation of the late Virginia Rich’s Eugenia Potter series by Nancy Pickard better than the book written by Ms. Rich herself ( The Nantucket Diet Murders). [Wow – that’s a complicated sentence but I can’t think of another way to say it ]
I’ve never been to Arizona or anywhere in the Southwest so the whole setting and ranch lifestyle described in this book were totally new to me – and interesting. As to the mystery, I had no idea whodunit until it was revealed at the end. There were many interesting and sympathetic characters – but not all of them, of course, as this is a murder mystery. ;-) There’s also a little romance thrown in.
The location of the action is near the Mexican border, and one character harbors illegals who have crossed into Arizona. Chills ran up my spine at the timeliness of this passage spoken by another character (book published in 1993):
“Governor’s been asking me to sit on a special board, Genia, one that’s going to look into this state’s immigration problems and solve them once and for all, if I have any say about it. Hell, if I have my way, we’ll take that electrified fence of Reynolds McHenry and we’ll string it all along our border, keep them damn freeloaders out of our country.”

Mailed to booklady331 on March 28, via Ollie1976's Anything Goes VBB. (Sorry for the delay).
The book arrived today. Thank for sharing this with me. I appreciate it. Thank you, also, for the bookmark. It is encouraging.
Found the book a quick read. There was a disconnect for me when even though the granddaughter, cousin, niece was missing the family left town to have a funeral. I believe the funeral would have been postponed. The author did a good job of describing the area.
