Wealthy carpet-sweeper magnate Otto Brodie and his garishly grotesque clan have descended upon Judith McMonigle's quaint hillside Manor Inn for a wild night of drinking, dining and fortune telling. But the party ends abruptly when Madame Gushenka, their soothsayer-for-hire, drops dead from a lethal dose of tea and bugkiller. Madame's sudden demise has started rattling some nasty family skeletons loudly enough to alert Lt. Joe Flynn, Judith's one-time beau. And now the harried hostess and her policeman ex-paramour must solve the heinous crime - before the killer caps off his murderous mean with Judith as dessert!

Just finished! This one had quite a tangled web, I'm still trying to mentally sort out who knew whom from when! I didn't really like the way pets got treated in this one, but then I guess not every book is cat friendly! I think Sweetums had every right to be a not-so-nice cat from the way he was treated! Anyway, not a major part of the story, just a side note!
