I had read many reviews from women who *loved* this book. Personally, I didn't care for it too much. I thought the main character was just plain stupid for putting up with all that garbage from her boss. I think I'm gonna release this as a RABCK, once I figure out how!!

Released in trade,thanks

Andrea Sachs, a small-town girl fresh out of college, lands the job “a million girls would die for.” Hired as the assistant to Miranda Priestly, the high-profile, fabulously successful editor of Runway magazine, Andrea finds herself in an office that shouts Prada! Armani! Versace! at every turn, a world populated by impossibly thin, heart-wrenchingly stylish women and beautiful men clad in fine-ribbed turtlenecks and tight leather pants that show off their lifelong dedication to the gym. With breathtaking ease, Miranda can turn each and every one of these hip sophisticates into a scared, whimpering child.

I really wasn't expecting all that much from this book, so it came as a welcome surprise at how much I liked it. From some reviews I had read I thought it'd be awful. It really wasn't, Ms. Weisberger clearly knows what she was writing about. Her experiences sure helped her with this book into the inside of a major fashion magazine. Andrea was a well-developed character and I could easily see her forsake everything, getting caught up in a demanding job like that. I didn't see her as selfish exactly, just stuck in a horrific situation so she can get closer to the career she wants, faster. I was a little sad in how the book ended, but hey, that's life. While this book wasn't the typical chick-lit fare, i.e. there wasn't as much humor or fluffiness, the details were in-depth and very interesting. It may not be for everyone, but I'm glad I read it. :)

I enjoyed this book well enough to read it in a day. A fast easy read once I had gotten used to someone wearing $700 shoes(not in my world..ok ) I also would have never put up with her bosses crap but this is fiction after all & I too did not expect too much from the book. But as I said before I was pleasantly suprised, now if I could just remember who Amanda is "supposed" to be in real life. Andrea came across as a naive young woman who could easily fall into a situation, just trying to get a break. I picked up from the ending that maybe she went on to write what I was reading? Or maybe I hoped so. Thank you for sharing. I will be sending it to CarynPic, it is on her wishlist.
