James and the Giant Peach
8 journalers for this copy...
Result of a visit to a Red Cross thrift store. Illustrated by Nancy Ekholm Burkert.
I just noticed I have two copies of James and the Giant Peach, so I'm sending this one to Kemppu as a surprise. I bought this book from Oulu, and now it's going back to Oulu, which is very fitting.
Kemppu: I realize this copy is a pretty old paperback. If you need a newer copy for your permanent collection, you're free to release this one. Or you can keep it, too, if you wish. Just as you like!

What a nice surprise to get a book from my wishlist with the other books I got from Harmaja today. Thank you ever so much, Harmaja! Also thanks to Millam, the book courier.
I'm not sure yet if this book goes to my pc - most of the books in my wishlist I just want to read, not necessarily keep. In any case, I don't care if this is an old paperback (actually, it looks cute :)). I'm not particular about the looks of my books (hey, that rhymes!) as long as they're in readable condition. Though some books have nice looking covers, it's still the inside that really counts. I don't judge a book by its cover! :)

What a lovely book! I want to travel in a peach with bugs, too! I wonder why I never read Roald Dahl's books as a child. Didn't they have them in the local library? Fortunately, Dahl's books are suitable for a bit older readers, too. So, it's not too late to enjoy them now.
I'll make the book available, but I prefer to give it to somebody than release it in the wild.

The book is now on its way to Katyan!
Oh, this lovely book arrived to me today! Thank you so much Kemppu! Funnily, I remember that I've been reading this journal before and was already then interested in this book. And now, after many months, I suddenly have this book in my hands! I'll read it and find a new good home for it afterwards. Thank you also for the beautifull postcard from Eagle Canyon, which arrived with this book!
I read this lovelylovelylovely little book during the weekend. It was really a book that makes one sigh in the end, heart full of adventure and joy. The beginning of the book was quite terrible, I felt like yelling "nooo nooo no no nooooooo! This cannot be happening to anyone!" when I was reading it, but fortunately the author had such a good humour in his writing, so it was not so terrible after all.
And the trip with the giant peach was fantastic, I really loved this book! also the illustrations in it were wonderfull (look at the some pictures about the aunties...:)!)! In the end I felt like I want this book to stay in my permanent collection, but at the same time I felt that everyone should read this wonderfull book, so I also felt it should continue its' journey among the bookcrossers. Let's see to whom it will go next...

Picked this up at the meetup last night. Thanks, katyan - i didn't realise it had come all the way from Finland! I loved Roald Dahl books growing up, and look forward to re-reading this one.
that it's very sweet, imaginative, and inspiring as James and the creatures living inside the Giant Peach escape from his tyrannous aunts and brave various perils to cross the world from inside the peach!

I picked this one up from meet-up last night! I'm a Roald Dahl fan as well but for some reason, I don't think I ever read this one as a child. I'm sure I will enjoy this little book and I will pass it on when I'm done with it. Thanks!
Nope, I definitely didn't read this one before! It's a cute little story and has Roald Dahl's characteristic dark humour - like the "crunch" when James's aunts were rolled flat! However, I think my preference is still with Roald Dahl's other work, like The Witches, Matilda etc. I'm glad that I had the chance to read this though and I believe there was a movie made as well, so I hope to get to check that out eventually!

A cute little book on James´ and his friend´s adventurous travels with the giant peach. I liked the rhymes and drawings in between. Also the story was a nice way for me to learn the name of some English insects: ladybird, centipede and glow-worm. Together with the grasshopper, earthworm and silkworm they were all sweet, endearing characters. And I am happy about the ending!
