This is a little, but mighty book. A bit of history, a bit of romance and a bit of intrigue together in 259 pages. I started this last night and finished it this evening. I enjoyed it, especially the look into the Cuba of 100+ years ago when it was still a Spanish colony. I am moved to find out more about Evangelina Cisneros - evidently, she is a real person. You learn something new every day!
This is going out to jamesmum for inclusion in the "Kiwi M-Bag" for FutureCat. Enjoy!
Into the m-bag it goes....

I found this book a bit hard to get into, but when it did eventually catch my interest, I couldn't put it down. A love story, not only between the people, but also a love story for Cuba.
I've just convinced my mother to join (oops, sorry Mum, I was supposed to say you were my sister, wasn't I? ;-) ), so I'll pass this book on to her next.

Recieved this book from FutureCat
TopKat gave me this book to take down to the meetup in Dunedin on Saturday, where it was either picked up by another bookcrosser or added to the ever-growing pile of books to be released at the NZBC convention in February.

This was picked up at Saturday's meetup with Futurecat and Lytteltonwitch here in Dunedin. We have added it to the pile of books being kept for the 2006 Convention.
I caught this book at the NZ BookCrossing Convention in Dunedin this week.
I havn't read it yet.
EDIT: read. I found it really good, it's well written and intriguing and it's actually a true story too. And it ended the way i hoped too :-)

Not from the St Lees magazine pile but given to me by Sanalin. I had been tempted by this book the moment I saw it (it had been amongst the piles of convention books stored at my house) but had managed to resist its calls to me to read it, however when you brought it along the other night Sanalin, all thoughts of towering TBR piles were forgotten!
It may take a little while but I will get to it eventually.

Sorry but this didn't really grab me, the writing was lovely but I found it a struggle to get through, this is probably due to the fact that there are other things going on in my life at the moment so it is a bit of an effort to concentrate on some types of books. I enjoyed learning about Evangelina though and thanks to google found a photo of her, she certainly is lovely.

Picked this up at the mini BC lunch a couple of months ago, but only got around to reading it recently. It's a quick read in a deceptively simple style, and very enjoyable - I would have liked a bit more background info about WR Hearst and the NY newspaper scene at the time, but the vivid descriptions of Havana made up for the lack.
