I was very excited to find this copy at the used book store today to add to my fantasy box. This is Jim Butcher's very first book. He has just released the 6th book in this series and they just keep getting better! He also has a new series coming out (Codex Alera) and the first book is Furies of Calderon to be released Oct. 5th.

I enjoyed this book. What a great new storyline! Nothing too heavy, just the right sort of light entertainment I needed at the moment.

I'll be looking for more in this series.

What a wodnderful read. I like it when magic comes to our world and the present time because then, I feel it's more real.
The story itself was good and made you read all the time to know the end. Though things were a little clear from the beginning and I could guess some few things but still, I couldn't figure out the whole story and that's what made it interesting. And I liked Bob more than other characters in the book. :)

Read this one last month and enjoyed it.
The first of the Harry Dresden series.

Found it a bit like a cross between Philip Marlowe and Kinsey Millhone, with magic... ;-)

I haven't read any Jim Butcher before, so it was nice to find his first book through Bookcrossing and to be able to read it. It was an easy and quick read and a pleasant way to fill a couple of hours. I found the character of Harry Dreseden a bit inconsistent though - he present as slightly uncoordinated and unskilled, but manages to pull off the most amazing saves throughout the book. Not sure if this is supposed to signify that Dresden has a low opinion of himself, or Butcher is taking the easy way out to get his hero out of a fix. I suspect, though, I shouldn't be reading so much into the book! :-) We have a BC meetup coming up in Perth soon and I plan to take the book along to that.
