PRINCE OF THE NIGHT
He came to her in the night, a predator - strength and power chiseled his features. The seduction was deep and elemental; he affected her soul. His need. His darkness. His terrible haunting loneliness. Her senses aroused, she craved the dangerous force of his body. Burned for him. And he had only touched her with his mind.
LADY OF THE LIGHT
She came to him at dawn, his bleakest hour. As the beast raged inside him, threatening to consume him, he vented his centuries-old despair in an anguished cry that filled the waning night. And she answered, a ray of light, piercing his darkness. A beautiful angel. Her compassion, courage, and innocence awakened in him an exquisite longing and tenderness. He knew he must possess her, for only she could tame his savage side and lift the dark shadow from his soul. Apart they were desolate, bereft. Intertwined physically and spiritually, they could heal one another and experience an eternity of nights filled with love.

Just came back from holidays and this book was waiting for me. I will read as soon as I finish my current read and then journal again.
Finished reading the book today, it was an enjoyable vampire romance.
Athough I dislike inacuracies in books (ex.having a slavic name for a Romanian living in the Carpathian mountains just makes me cringe), I could forget it here as the whole book is a lovely fantasy.

Although I enjoyed this book I did find it difficult to understand at parts. I found as I read more it got easier and by the second book in this ring I could understand what was going on more easily. I didn't enjoy this book as much as the second, possibly because it was the author's first in the series but it was still a good read. Thanks for sharing and I'll be passing it along as soon as I get an addy.

This book has probably been the source of more conflicted feelings than any other book I've read before. I hated the beginning, I thought the main character's mooning over each other was pukeworthy. The problem was the author's writing style: She uses way too melodramatic language, like "his hooded eyes were black obsidian, black ice, pure black magic". Okay, I get it already! The language felt so silly that I couldn't get into the story, I was constantly aware of being in my own home reading a book, instead of being swept away by the plot. I have read a couple of romance books, but I've never come across something this badly written. I had the feeling the author tried to convey the feeling of seeing your crush to the reader, but I felt nothing. One tip: subtlety is the key. Not some overly dramatic description of how your heart flutters when you look at him/her.
I also felt that the vampires' need for a life-mate was unrealistic. I understand that this is fantasy, but I'm too cynical for this. All I could think was that the author was writing some perverted female dream about men who never cheat or even look at other women.
As the story progressed, I actually found myself liking this book. The plot line involving the other Carpathians and the murder of Mikhail's sister was very interesting. The writing got better when the author stopped constantly describing what the main characters felt for each other. Raven and Mikhail became much less annoying when they actually started having sex together. The first couple of times were okay, but soon the sex scenes became annoying too! I felt that they were unnecessary interruptions to the plot line, and they served no point later on in the story. They were too repetitive, and when I read about sex I prefer hardcore porn, where they actually use the real names of the sexual organs. The author's use of "sheath" for vagina always made me snicker.
The middle part of the book was best, I found the end a bit confusing. Even though Dark Prince had it's flaws, I'm looking forward to reading it's sequel, Dark Desire. It'll be interesting to see if the author manages to create a fresh story, or if she just writes a rehash of book 1. Even if I decide not to continue with the series, I have to read book 4, Dark Magic. Gregori was so cool that I have to read his story! Besides, I love New Orleans.
I took one star off for the overuse of the word velvet.
Sent the book yesterday to Auglaise. And I have to say I agree with everything she wrote in her review below!

I enjoyed this, but was really disappointed that Feehan didn't go more into detail in the book about the Carpathians and their culture. I felt that alot of the character's motivations were difficult to understand because I have no idea why they'd want to do something!
I also felt that, although this is a romance and they're supposed to have sex, I would have much prefered a more coherent storyline to the constant rabbiting Mikhail and Raven seemed to indulge in. One of the reasons that I enjoy romance novels as opposed to porn films is that the novels usually have a plot! I felt that the author could really have done alot more in that area.
I'm looking forward to book 2 though, as several people have said that the writing gets better. Thanks very much for sharing, and I'll be sending it on its way as soon as I'm able!

Sent off today!
This one just arrived in the mail today and I'll get started on it right away. So glad to see that it arrived safely, I had almost given up on it.
I finished reading this one last night. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would, mostly because I've read more of her later works. With some authors I find earlier books to be of a lesser quality and I'm pleased with how much I liked this one.
Sent this book off today.

This book arrived sometime last week along with Dark Desire. I can't wait to read both. I always read bookrings in the order I get them, but in this case, I may cheat a little.
This book certainly entertained me. I picked up the second one in the series immediately.
I'll forward them both on once I get the address.

I apologize... I forgot to journal these when they came in. I am getting close to starting this one as I'm finishing off another bookring. I've been a bit bombarded with rings lately, but I'm trying to catch up. Again... sorry about the delay!

I finished this a couple of weeks ago, but forgot to journal. I don't think this series is going to be as great as I had hoped, but I did start to get into this more as I got further in the book.
Got this in the mail yesterday from SandDanz -- and I have to admit, I have cheated...I started reading Dark Prince from a copy sharalsbooks sent me off my wish list....(I can be a slow reader and I didn't want to hold up the ring...) So --- I will send on as soon as I get the address for the next reader :)
On a side note, it seems to me I have read something in the Dark series..maybe a short story?? Because I know Mikhail and Raven -- not as well as I do now, but -- too bad my memory is so bad I can't remember what the book/short was...sigh.

It arrived today with Dark Desire from innae.
I enjoyed this quick moving romance book. The Carpathian twist on the standard romance formula is fun, and the sparks fly when a modern American woman clashes with a dark and ancient hero.
I'm waiting for the address from the next person in line to send this one on it's way.
