This is probably one of my favorite Maeve Binchy books. Very much like the movie. Benny is probably one of my favorite characters of all time; she's very much like everyone else, but has a spark that seems to make her shine...never outwardly makes a scene, but dying on the inside. i wish i had that self control! haha.

Received it in the mail today! I have one bookring book to read before I start on this one, but they should go pretty fast. My first Maeve Binchy book!

Finished the book last night. I enjoyed it, and felt like I was following a group of real-life friends. Some might say the book is dull because not alot really happens- but to me, it was enjoyable to see how the friendships would build and how all their lives intertwined. And then closer to the end (maybe the last 1/3 of the book) things REALLY got interesting! It's well worth the read.

I have your-book-fairy's address- now it's a matter of me getting to the post office, and it'll be on its way. Thank you, surfenkitten for the bookring!

October 30- sent via media mail to your-book-fairy today!

Just got this one in the mail! I think this is the third book I've gotten in a ring or ray from bunnybee in the past couple of weeks, and I'm pretty confident this is going to be another good one!

I also have to say that I've seen people mail books in all kinds of protective wrappers inside the envelope, but Bunny is my current record holder for most interesting and unexpected materials! (that's what's in the photo... I am suddenly now starving for a cream filled snack cake!)

I had seen the movie version of this book so I had a general idea of what was going to happen, but I still enjoyed this. I agree with Bunnybee that it was nice to see how the friendships and relationships built and intertwined, and I also liked that there wasn't a surplus of characters who were mentioned once or twice but then ended up being irrelevant. I felt like I knew everyone in the town, and I could really relate to some of these teenage girls' feelings. In fact, I enjoyed that this was a story that could have taken place 50 years earlier or 50 years later and it would still make sense because it had sort of universal themes that made it easy to get into.

I'm waiting to hear from Elsita for her address, I'll mail it out as soon as I've got it!

My first Maeve Binchy's!!! And I really enjoyed it! The story of Benny and Eve and their friends was really quite interesting, I really needed this kind of book these days, it made me forget a little bite the real life...

Thanks for the opportunity, surfenkitten!
