A fascinating history of the Harlequin Book empire and the people and times that drove it. Clever and fluid, the author cheerfully explores the facts of the romance novel industry at its inception and in the present day. Each chapter title is taken, aptly, from a Harlequin book title, and while one senses that the author is not particularly a fan of romance novels, he does give credit where credit is due, both in matters of business and the heart. A good read, even if you don't read romance novels (and I don't). PLANNED RELEASE: BOWEN ISLAND FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY BOOK SALE AUG 18.

Released on Sunday, August 18, 2002 at Friends of the Library Book Sale in Bowen Island, British Columbia Canada.

I bought the book at the Friends Book sale because the author is a neighbor and I always read our neighbors' books! There are many authors on Bowen that keep me activily reading.I never read Harlequin or romance books but found the book fascinating as I have an interest in business and how businesses develop, disappear etc.I will send it into the wild at this summer's Friends book sale!
