Seven Years In Tibet
4 journalers for this copy...

I loved Harrer's style of writing, and found this book a pleasure to read. The book looks into the land of Tibet, a country with few tourists. Harrer is an Austrian traveler who stays in Tibet and befriends the Dalai Lama (who is a young boy at this time). This book ends with the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1950.

Released on Monday, August 12, 2002 at US Mail in Taneytown, Maryland USA.
Mailed to MaryZee :) Enjoy!

Received this from Seferim in book exchange. Will report back as soon as I get to read it. Thanks!

Really enjoyed this. First part of the book reminded me of Into Thin Air - more of an adventure-type story, with the description of their escape from the internment camp at Dehra Dun. Latter part of the book was like a wonderful travel saga about the charm of the Forbidden Land of Tibet and their lives there.
Thinking about how to share this one, and will pass it on soon.
Thanks, Seferim!

Received this today in the mail as part of a bookray from MaryZee. I'm really looking forward to reading it!

I fear it will take me seven years to read this book. It is really a nice book and I enjoyed the descriptions of Tibet and the Tibetan culture and its people. It just would have been nice if the story had moved faster. I mean, obviously, the author was in Tibet for seven years, but I left off on page 154 and he still hadn't met the Dalai Lama. I don't want to hold onto the book any longer and if I had more time, I would probably finish it eventually, but I feel it should be continuing on its journey.

Sent to CestMoi on 11/1/04.

In the meantime, a guest room at the Lost Book Island Resort is just the thing for this book. It may stay here until it is found and a journal entry comes to tell us a tale of where this book has been and perhaps it will get the chance to continue on its planned bookray journey.

I sent this book to the lostbookisland, since it seems to be lost in the mail between New York and Canada. I recently received a very kind offer from CatsAlive in Australia, who offered to revive the bookray down under. I will revise the existing list to remove folks who are participating in her ray, in case this one ever becomes active again.
