This is a very sad and interesting story.

RELEASE NOTES:
I don't actually know if I still have this book or not. I don't think I do and that put it in a pile of books which I released before shifting flats last year. Though before I move to Auckland when I go through all my stuff I'm bound to discover whether I did or not.

This book was actually passed on to me by a friend. Maybe he intended to leave it on the seats.
Anyway will probably give it a read and wild release it afterwards.

I found this book to be a very good read. Coming from big extended families on both sides I could relate to some of the story but my family isn't as dramatic and gossipy. Plus we don't all live in the one town.
It was also interesting reading about the different time period, it might not of been that long ago but there was a lot of differences that I picked up on.
Not quite sure what I'll do with this book. I might wild-release it when I'm in Christchurch this weekend though not sure yet.

I'm going to take this book along to the BC meetup in Christchurch this weekend and see if anyone wants to take it.
If not I will wild release it while I'm in Christchurch.

Picked up at today's meetup with alkaline-kiwi - nice to meet you! (And hi mecka-antics!)

It took me a while to get into this book, as the first (long) chapter basically consists of a series of vignettes of the many characters in the story, so that by the middle of the chapter I was overwhelmed by the mass of information, and totally confused about who was who and what their relationships to each other were. However, as the book goes on, a story (or rather, many intertwined stories - the title is very apt) begins to emerge, and I found myself totally drawn into the lives of this strange family. I'll admit to having the odd tear in my eye towards the end.
Worth persevering with.

Caught at a delightful brunch attended by lytteltonwitch, futurecat, mrploppy, the beloved and myself.
I always enjoyed L M Montgomery but this is new to me so I hope it is written as well as my old favourites.
Delighted to discover that it originated with my friend mecka, hi there in Auckland, and came via alkalinekiwi and the mischievous photographer aka futurecat!
