Well up to the Cornwell standard. A ripping yarn, with lots of historical (hopefully authentic) background. Basically a detective story set against the corruption and inhumanity of the post-Waterloo years.

Everytime I went to bookshop or charity shop I saw this book and made me tempt to buy it but at the end I didn't buy. So I found it at meetup which I am really glad. Will read one day.

No time to read this book. Give it away to Leeds Bookcrossing Meetup

This was readable enough, but I was a bit disappointed really. It was nowhere near as good as CJ Sansom's Tudor crime fiction. I found this a bit repetitive - and too much harking back to Waterloo. If I wanted to read about soldiers I would have chosen one of the Sharpe novels. And I have no interest in cricket.

My friend (a non bookcrosser) picked this up at tonight's Bookcrossing meeting and would like to read it. She will pass back to me when she's finished so I can journal it for her and then pass on.
