Makes you really examine the next time you call a woman a "bitch"...
Its Atwood....what can I say. Hard Cover and heavy. Great and desperate.

Off to New Mexico!
Received as part of a trade with fellow Bookcrosser nubbyjenn. Atwood's one of my favorites, so I can't wait to get into this. Thanks!
According to Atwood, we women have nothing to worry about when it comes to the Battle Between the Sexes because what could compare to the battles women wage against themselves and each other? We've all known women like Zenia and, like the three women in the book, many of us have had our lives infected by the Zenias of this world as well. What I like most about Atwood's style in telling this and most of her tales is that, for a poet, she keeps her prose simple and to the point, but then also manages to give her stories an almost fairy tale quality, which bleeds up ever so slightly through the thin veneer of reality. Very well done, even if I was disappointed in the climax, which came abruptly, and the end, which was too drawn out.
Reserved as part of a trade with JenLuvsBooks.
Mailed off to California this a.m. Enjoy!
Thanks for the book. I usually either love or hate Atwood's books. I'll let you know what I think of this one.
I wanted to scream at the characters for some of their stupidity. The women all had tragic childhoods and tended to be gullible/naive/needy. The men were morally weak. Luckily I've never had anyone in my life like Zenia. I do know someone who resembles Charis and I got a "kick out of" her character. Very good book.

Yay! It always makes me happy to find a book in the mail. I plan to read The Robber Bride in early 2006 as part of the 5 books, 5 countries, 5 continents 2006 reading challenge. Margaret Atwood satisfies Canada.
