Found the book in a church porch while out for a walk! Very much enjoyed reading it on holiday near Malaga as the story starts in Spain! Brilliant descriptions that really absorbed me into the story. Left book at Malaga airport.

The man closed the book feeling slightly cheated. The man recognised the plot as having been ripped off from an Arabian Nights short story, and he did not think that the author's "you-can-have-anything-if-you-want-it-badly-enough" world view merited 175 pages of exposition, albeit dressed up as a novel. The book had made no intelectual demands on the man, being as it was writted in such a bland documenary style. And print big enough to pad it to novel length. And short sentences. But the irritating habit of not calling characters by name (only 2 are given names) and the flatness of the characters, which matched the shallowness of the author's philosophical asides, wrung any joy from the experience of reading the book. The man wondered why there was no "recycled" status listing available
