arrived safe and sound
Very interesting well written accounting on the issue of prostitution. This author started out doing a thesis that led her on a lifetime experience. She took the time to get to kown the ladies who choose this profession and researched the issue from both sides. I came away from this book better educated and more open minded.
Received this as an RABCK from the generous bookcrosser from Schenectady. I had earlier noticed the book when it was highlighted in Barnes & Noble's new author's program.
I enjoyed this thoroughly. I thought Dr. Albert's covered the subject with open eyes, and this allowed me, the reader, to learn far more than I suspected I would. The discussion of the pimps and the mini-cultures that surround the brothels was fascinating, as was the confined existence within the brothels for the workers.
This book is clearly not a whitewash of the brothels, which I think is great. Albert describes some truly fascinating encounters. It's a shame that her website no longer exists.
Now to see who else wishes for the book ...
