Thank you JDT. This book arrived while I was a way for a few days. What a nice welcome home. It has now joined my other TBR's and resting up from its travels across country. I will read and release it on its journey for others to enjoy.

Have you ever been in a situation where you knew you should be feeling or thinking a certain way but your emotions and mind seemed to take you somewhere else? I have, and thought I was being insensative, or at least scatter brained. Well apprently we aren't alone as in Jane Hamilton's beautifully written story we see Alice reveal some interesting thoughts and feelings not necessarily appropriate for the moment.

However the above is just a small piece of why I liked this book so much. The worls is a complex place and Alice's map takes us to some places we may have never been before and some we certainly don't want to visit.

I would have given this a higher rating but I felt that the ending was rushed and a bit weak.

Caught this on the book relay!

I just finished this book and found it sad and thought provoking. The writing was very good and I felt like I was looking in a window seeing the intimate lives of some very ordinary people. People who could be any one of us.
