Loved reading this book!
So happy to find this like-new copy to share.

An isolated island off Puget Sound, local fisherman found suspiciously drowned, a Japanese-American charged with his murder...

Beautiful writing, heart-stopping suspense, lingering effects on a family and on the community

I was finally able to get this read! This was a very good, well written story dealing with a murder in a small fishing village in Washington State. The book deals a lot with prejudice and the treatment of the Japanese who were in the US before and during WWII. I will be moving this book along via RABCK very soon!

Thank you to for the RABCK, kfcamper! My apologies. Personal heartbreak put me off of reading anything until recently. I tried to read this, and was okay with it for awhile; then I came upon what just seemed like cliche dialogue to me - the journalist trying to get the story from the sheriff. I tried a bit more but, after 50-plus pages, have decided not to force it and will begin the new year with something else. I will check others' wish lists so that I may pass it along. I do appreciate your kindness!

I finally finished this book while vacationing this weekend. I enjoyed this story of a fisherman's death and the subsequent trial of the japanese-american accused of his murder. I liked the intertwining of the characters and the descriptions of this small island off the coast of Washington. Overall, an enjoyable read.
I passed this book on to a wonderful woman I met while vacationing at Rocking Horse Ranch in NY. I hope she enjoys it and will eventually make a journal entry and help it continue on its journey.
