This book was in the Withdrawn bin at the Milton Public Library and looked like it deserved to be rescued so I bought it for a dollar. I've never read any of LeGuin's work before, and I'm looking forward to giving her a whirl.

I haven't read this yet, but I've promised it to CalgaryKitty when I'm done. In exhange she's sending me A Prayer for Owen Meany.

I started this a couple of days ago because I've arranged a swap with CalgaryKitty. I'd heard a lot of good things about this author, but so far I've found the book tedious and a bit dull. I'm about half way through it. We'll see if the end is better than the beginning.

I just can't get into this book. It is about a woman who's a sort of future anthropolgist studying a world where people -- wait, that's a forbidden word, I should say "producer-consumers" -- are very oppressed. Anything connected to the past is forbidden. Emotions are forbidden. It sounds like an interesting premise, but I found it exceedingly dull. I'm a hundred pages in and there hasn't been one thing to catch my interest at all. Unless I have some incredible epiphany with it on the train home tonight, I'll probably just pack it up and mail it off to CalgaryKitty tomorrow, without bothering to finish reading it. When I found myself thinking it would be more fun to do my tax return, I realized it's probably time to give up on this book.

I just received this book in the mail this morning. Hopefully I will enjoy it more than the previous bookcrosser. I have read The Left Hand of Darkness and some short stories by this author and liked them. I'm adding this book to my ever growing to-be-read stack. Thanks Miss-Efficiency! =^..^=

I had been putting off reading this book for a while because the inside flap described it as "the latest novel in the Hainish cycle". I hadn't read the previous novels and I don't really like reading series out of order. Thankfully, this was a stand-alone novel and it is not necessary to read the preceding books. I actually rather liked this book. This book isn't for every sci-fi fan, (there are no space opera elements), but the writing is good! Hardcover. 264 pages. =^..^=

I left this in the women's washroom on top of the perfume dispenser. SSM19. =^..^=

A few years ago a student teacher at my high school gave this book to me. It sat on my shelf till age 20, when in a desperate need for literature I picked it up and thoroughly enjoyed it.
