I've been bemoaning the lack of anything a bit more intellectual on the relay site lately, so this was nice to pluck out of the Books Just Want to Have Fun box. Sadly, it's off to Mt. TBR for a bit. Not much fun there, I'm afraid, unless falling on my head is fun for a book...
I spent a good chunk of this book enjoying it immensely but wondering where it was going. There isn't a strong plotline or through-line; it seems to be a telling of this village and how the villagers live their lives.
Yet when there's only 50 pages left, the whole thing snaps into focus and the last fifteen pages or so reduced me to anger and tears.
Brilliant book.
