Found in the Blécherette book box. I already have a collection of stories by Saki but am not sure if all those in that book are repeated here. Saki is always fun.

Eight of the stories here were not included in my other book, but I read them all, those I knew and those I didn't. They are not all animal stories, despite what it says on the back cover blurb (where there is also a typo, Wilfred instead of Wilfrid).
Saki's style is unique, ostensibly pompous, satirical, cruelly humorous, or humorously cruel... always with a twist in the tail. But a few of the short stories here are of a completely different bent, concerning life in the trenches, the behaviour of birds on the Western Front, philosophical thoughts on the nature of the cat...

Saki was shot by a sniper in France, in 1916. His real name was Hector Hugh Munro; he was born in Burma in 1870 and brought up in England after the death of his mother by two maiden aunts who hated each other.

I was pleased to see that the cover was designed by Paul Bommer, who has been a contact on flickr for many years; I have a poster of My Cat Jeoffry on my bedroom wall.
