I got this hardcover at a local Barnes and Noble. A bickering couple are driving through a worsening blizzard, when things get... scary. They find themselves whisked away from each other, trying to find each other in a snowbound town where really bad things keep happening. The local sheriff, who is having her own problems - she's still upset at having failed to find a couple who went missing in her town a few months back, and as if that weren't enough her girlfriend broke up with her and left town - keeps getting called to various scenes: car accident, missing person, property damage, gruesome death... What is going on here?

The couple seem to be central to the force/power/whatever-it-is, but the supernatural force isn't the only - or even the worst - monster in town. Will they figure it out in time to prevent more deaths?

While some parts of the story were a bit of a stretch, overall I remained involved in it, wanting to know what would happen next. And poor Sheriff Kendra does get some redemption, though not without painful losses along the way. Chilling and atmospheric story.

I left this book in the Little Free Library ahead of another snowstorm. Hope someone enjoys it!
