American Gods

Although I've enjoyed Gaiman's other novels, this one didn't grab me.
Going to affinity4books as a RABCK.
Thanks so much for the RABCK! I'm looking forward to reading it.
Wow! This was my first Gaiman novel and it won't be my last. Some others are now on my wishlist. I wish I had known a bit more about mythology, but the novel was really engrossing regardless. I liked the interludes about different people and gods coming to America, the characters esp. Shadow, Laura, Chad, and Sam, the way realism and fantasy were woven seamlessly together, and all the interesting places they visited.
I also liked the quirky narrative flow, how I was never sure exactly where it was going or what would happen next- you could say the plot meanders, but it kept me hooked. There was a sense of urgency for me to finish. I was suprised I read such a fat book so quickly. And a learned a few things along the way. It is a deep book, though, so I'm not sure I grasped all the themes and meanings of it. I had a few questions left at the end, but I like books that make me think. In short, all the good things I had heard about this book and author were true. Thanks cestmoi. Now available for trade or RABCK.

Woo hoo! It arrived safe and sound. Looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the trade affinity4books.
I really, really, enjoyed this book. I love mythology, and thoroughly enjoyed the references scattered throughout the novel. Now I just need to get more books by Gaiman...

I had never heard of this website before when I came across this book during a break with my music group at the church a couple days ago. It was indeed in the foyer, sitting in the middle of an ottoman. I love to read and am very happy to learn that this group exists. I am looking forward to reading it and then passing it on.
