Enjoyed this thoroughly - Chris Stewart has a lovely, slightly self-deprecating (but not too much so) and often very funny tone. I loved reading about his re-location to a remote farm in Andalucia, and loved it all the more for not having the slightest desire to make a similar life-style change. I'm far too much of a city-girl, and definitely not farm-girl enough to be able to cope with the killings and deaths (not to mention the corpses of animals torn apart by their sweet dogs!). And scorpions - no. Just no. Loved his wife Ana too. There's a 'sort of sequel', A Parrot in the Pepper Tree, which I will definitely try to find too.
