I was surprised at how much I liked this book. The premise seemed intriguing, but it started out being very different than the story I was expecting. The writing was a lot of fun, and the characters were easy to care about, so it didn't take long to get swept back into the story. It's a much more practical and less fantastical take on vampires than one would expect, but the author did his homework with worldbuilding and everything's interesting enough to keep the story humming along.
