Just given a huge bunch of books from a friend who said "do that bookcrossing thing you do, whether you read them or not. Find them homes."
"Ok!" I said! This is one of the books needing to be rehomed.
My 2006 review of the book:
You know, I feel almost sacrilegious, saying I wasn't so crazy about this. It's a nice enough story, very simple, but touching on the theme of following your dream to find your happiness and meaning in life. It felt like a cross between The Little Prince, The Velveteen Rabbit with a little "may the force be with you" philosophy thrown in. I think that the writing may have suffered in translation. Spanish is such a beautiful and lyrical language, but can sound so blah if the translator lacks the soul of a poet or a lover. I'm glad the boy sought his treasure and learned of love. I'm glad he traveled. And he's lucky to have found Fatima. on his adventures. I just wasn't swept away. Boy! Do I feel like a bad guy saying that! Sigh.
