Financial investigator Aaron Falk has been invited to a christening in Marrallee, rural Australia. There's a wine festival going on, so the community would be celebrating, except that it's exactly a year since a woman went missing and abandoned her baby on the first day of the festival. Another older death of an unsolved hit and run also still hangs over them. Falk, coming in as an outsider, might spot things that those who are closely involved can't see. This is absolutely brilliant, incredibly gripping.
