This fictional book is inspired by true events. Amazon River pirates attack the ferry that is owned by Nick's family and upon which they are traveling on the Amazon River. Nick's family escape into the night on surfboards. 15-year-old Nick and 8-year-old Mandie find themselves alone in the rainforest.
