I found this beautifully-illustrated hardcover in this new-to-me Little Free Library in Marlborough MA while dropping off some books of my own.

It's a fable based on Tibetan culture, and centering on the young man Tenzin, who has the ability to soothe animals of all types, as well as a balanced philosophy of appreciating everything in the natural world. One day he finds a musk deer that's been shot with an arrow, and hears it ask for his help. He tends the deer, relying on dreams to provide him with hints as to what to do next, and becoming very fond of his charge. But when the deer has healed and it's time for her to go, Tenzin has to accept his own grief at parting and let her be free.

A lovely tale, with Buddhist philophy and gorgeous illustrations.
