Blurb from the back....

In Memoirs of a Geisha we enter a world where appearances are paramount; where a girl's virginity is auctioned to the highest bidder; where women are trained to beguile the most powerful men; and where love is scorned as an illusion. It is a unique and triumphant work of fiction-at once romantic, erotic, suspensful-and completely unforgettable.

I picked this book up today from the UPS center. Just my luck, each time they tried to deliver it I wasn't home. I've heard many good things about this book, so I'm eager to get started! Thanks Kelwhy :)

Just wanted to make a quick entry to say I'm still reading the book. With school and work finding the time to read hasn't been that easy, so apologies for taking a long time. I'm really enjoying it, the story is filled with great details. I can't wait to see how everything turns out.

So I have finally finished reading this wonderful book! I can certainly see why it is so popular. Before I read this book I wasn't even sure what a geisha actually was. The story really opened my eyes to another place, time, and culture. Thanks Kelwhy for starting this ray. I'm still waiting for an address for the next person, when I get it I'll be sending it out as soon as possible.

I didn't get a reply from the person on the list after me, so Kelwhy asked me to send the book to MollyGrue. I dropped it off at the post office today. Thanks Kelwhy for sharing this book! :)

I thought this was a wonderful story, but was somwhat surprised at the shallowness of the main character. I also hated how she schemed to avoid having someone who might have truely loved her in order for her to get someone else who (at several points in the story) didn't seem to care for her at all. Otherwise very fascinating.

Wow what a great book. I really loved it! I thought it was a quick easy read. I guess I really never knew exactly what a Geisha did. I love a book that entertains me as well as teaches me something. Since I'm the last person on the ray I'm going to let my mom read this and then I will see if I can spark some interest in another ray.
