From Ex Nihilo

An early Banks episode where he is still married to Sandra, his children are at school. She is only a background figure. This investigation takes him to Toronto and Oxford, some familiar places. Plenty of 1960s music including Billy Fury and The Small Faces, and mentions of books Tess of the Durbervilles and The Moving Toyshop, and the Canadian Group of Seven with particular reference to Emily Carr.

As always with Robinson, the landscape of the Dales is well described. The DCI Banks of the book is nothing like the one in the TV series (and everyone agrees that he was mis-cast). The fells and valleys are great places for hiking in the wilderness, but I don't think you'd find any apricots growing there.
