You have to be a cat fanatic and a mystery lover as well as fantasy in order to be able to suspend your sense of plausibility to enjoy these series of "Joe Gray" mysteries. You see, "Joe Grey" and his friend "Dulcie" are talking cats. Only their humans know they can talk. But unlike some "ain't it cute; the animals can talk, Dr. Dolittle" kind of thing, at least these stories attempt to deal with the animals and the humans and some of the realistic problems such a turn of events might create. Who cares about the mystery - it's secondary to the relationships developed. At least these cats have character. This one is the fifth in a series of six.

Just as I was about to leave this book on the counter, the receptionist, who loves cat stories, picked it up. So, off it goes directly into the wild.
