A bildingsroman of 4 young men, two brothers – Emmett and Billy – and two of Emmett’s friends – Duchess and Wooley – newly escaped from juvenile work facility. They make plans to take a road trip on the Lincoln Highway. There are memorable characters all along their journey. Full of nostalgia including scenes of old New York City (hello F.A.O. Schwarz.... sniff sniff), I enjoyed this book even though it meandered through some slow parts.
Perhaps someday, I'll take a roadtrip on the Lincoln highway too. Fun fact: I didn't know the Holland Tunnel (NOT the Lincoln Tunnel) in NYC is part of this historical highway.
