I got this softcover from Better World Books. I first encountered books about deaths in national parks via Lee H. Whittlesey's Death in Yellowstone, and it's still my favorite, but Minetor's books provide gimpses of the beauties - and dangers - of other parks.
This one focuses on Glacier National Park in northern Montana, extending to the Canadian border. As with other books, this one's grouped into type of fatality, with the most common cause of death being drowning; people underestimate the icy cold of the water, and even a short time in such temperatures can leave people numb and unable to get out. Other causes of death include falls, exposure, and bear attacks - while the bears are usually happy to let people alone, there were some notable and tragic incidents where bears got used to finding food near campers and went on to maul some campers to death.
The author points out that most of the deaths reported here came about because people ignored warning signs and/or went out unprepared for conditions. This book, and others of its kind, do try to caution people to be aware of their surroundings and of the wild nature of the terrain; stepping over a guardrail for a photo op might be the last thing you ever do...
