The cover text reads:

At a party thrown by her parents, Evelyn Hardcastle will be killed — again.

She's been murdered hundreds of times, and each day, Aiden Bishop is too late to save her. The only way to break the cycle is to identify Evelyn's killer. But every time the day begins again, Aiden wakes in the body of a different guest. And someone is desperate to stop him ever escaping Blackheath …

From the outset, you know from the cover text that the plot is going to be different. Agatha Christie meets Groundhog Day. You know that the story will restart and repeat from a different point of view, but it didn't immediately strike me that it's not necessarily the end of that particular day's revelations, which is a bit confusing the first couple of times it happens.

Aiden starts out as an amnesiac in someone else's body knowing nothing about what is going on around him. Each day he retains some of the memories of the day before, and slowly discovers that he can talk to his previous incarnations. As time goes by, one or two others can talk to him …

That's all well and good, but it's a bit of a shock at the end to find out what it's all for!

Winner of the Costa Book Awards 2018.

Nice best seller, didn't like the ex-machima's at the end. Good Agatha Christie vibe.
