It's Copenhagen, 1968. Lise, a children's book writer and married mother of three, is becoming increasingly haunted by disembodied faces and taunting voices. Convinced that her housekeeper and husband are plotting against her, she descends into a terrifying world of sickness, pills and institutionalisation. But is sanity in fact a kind of sickness? And might mental illness itself lead to enlightenment?

Very disturbing and at the same time masterly depiction of madness/psychotic condition. Quite hard to read and absorb.

A complex book, disturbing at times. Not the kind of book you would like to read in one sitting (at least not me) or when you are not in a good phase of your life.
It made me think again about the masks we use to ourselves and others, what is the real you and what is a play, a make believe, a fantasy you've created about yourself and life.
It will be sent to Icila next week.
Thanks again for sharing, bookmaniac70.
