A weak moment when food shopping.
It was a nice book. A kind of cosy tale down by in the sea in a little Pacific community where everyone knows everyone else's business. It didn't pan out quite as I had hoped, and ended up a little bit too twee for me. I also found the Cameron story was strung out far, far too long, and he behaved like such a teenage diva, when actually, as the book kept reminding us, he was the great age of thirty. What I liked were the stories of 70 year old Tova, the cleaner at the aquarium, and the aged octopus, Marcellus. Quirky gentle tales.
Tova is a woman living with great sadness. Her husband died a couple of years ago, but 30 years ago her son Erik just disappeared, and it is believed he was lost at sea. And some of that mystery might be about to be solved with the help of an octopus.
I did get through this book really quickly, so although ultimately I felt a bit underwhelmed by it, I did enjoy it and found it to be an easy, cosy read.
