Just picked this up yesterday when I found myself bookless and with a few hours to kill. Very intriguing so far.

I have no idea how many stars to give this one. I figured out the main plot twist really early, and I can't decide if it's really lame or bloody brilliant. And I can't say much without letting spoilers out. Lehane's writing style was good, though, and everything did seem to fit well together, even when I knew where he was going with things, so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and star the book on the clever side.

I'm in a quandary. I enjoyed the book to a certain point, then didn't as much. I guess it was when I realized what was going on. Like stinalyn said, I can't say much more than that or I'll give it away.

I don't think I caught on as early in the book though. That's probably a good thing. :)

I'll still look for other Dennis LeHane books but I think I was spoiled by reading Mystic River first. It was so good that maybe his others suffer because of that. I'm still glad I read it.
