I'm leaving this book unrated as I cannot finish it.
The best way I can describe this book is that it is jazz music. Just like the author is a famous jazz saxophonist. It is beautifully written with interesting characters and setting. I also love the book title.
Unfortunately, there are many sidestories and at some point, the plot lost its way. While I do not mind meandering themes in jazz music, I lost patience with this book. Since my book club has already discussed the story, I am going to move onto another book.
I do have the author's other book, Deacon King Kong. Maybe I will give that one a try.
