I have been facinated since my early teens with the idea that there are other intelligent beings in our Universe. I saw the movie when it came out but have never read the book until now.

I saw the movie when I was in my early teens. I enjoyed it because of the possibilities it suggested. I was very happy when I found the book, expecting to be equally entertained and stimulated. I was a little disappointed. This is one of the rare instances where I can honestly say the movie was better than the book!
