Bought this to follow the author's story after I read Driving over Lemons. If it's as good as that I'll be pleased.

And it is, though more varied as it encompasses some of Chris Stewart's earlier recollections. He has the ability to paint a very vivid picture in a very few words. His neighbour's explanation of why their new telephones don't work "The satellite has a broken wing, you know" seems perfectly reasonable when one is sitting on the stump of a fig tree next to a gently flowing stream, watching the other neighbours pass by on their donkeys, and in those circumstances I think I'd be happy to take the information on trust too!

Another Chris Stewart from the Christmas box received today from Sir Steve. This one goes on the TBR pile as well, but is eventually destined for the OBCZ. Thank you!

I shall duly note for other readers, the following forum post, public thank you and acknowledgement here that Netstation surprised the Queen of Stealth quite handily. ;-)

Bumma is eyeing this and may steal it before I get to read it. Sigh.

CRISTOBAL DELIVERS ANOTHER! HIS SENSITIVITY TO PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT MAKES FOR GOOD REEADING. HIS SWIMMING POOL, HIS ADVENTURES WITH A PARROI ARE DIVERTING AND FUN TO READ. THE CLIMB HE AND ANA TAKE TO SEE GENTIANS ON, HIGH MUST HAVE BEEN ARDDUOUS, BUT WORTH IT.

It's mine again! All mine!!!! The tricky little Bumma got it from my TBR Pile. My friend wants to borrow this, so shall lend it out to her and then read it when I get it back.

Somehow this book went on an adventure for a year and just returned home. Two friends of mine ahve read it in the meantime, and a third person I've never heard of. Though all three pronounced it delightful, none chose to journal on it.

I just finished reading it and can only concur-- it is indeed delightful. He tells a good tale and brings us right into his world. He's a man I'd fancy inviting to the table to share a meal and some company.

Will offer this to hazrabai, who liked the first book as well.
