A story based on death, gender inequality and the supposed role of women in the 50’s. Our heroine Elizabeth Zott was a chemist who lost her partner through accidental death only to discover she was pregnant. This is the light hearted story of her life, raising her child as a single Mum and becoming a TV star thus enabling other women to think beyond their traditional housework roles.
I thought the use of her dog Six-Thirty telling much of the story was a bit weak and far-fetched. This is a book which dealt with important matters but which glossed over them too much to be more than a holiday read.
