This was my first Guido Brunetti mystery. A body was found in a shallow grave along with a Lorenzoni family signet ring. Brunetti is on the scene asking all the obvious questions. He is also asking others, who are seemingly unrelated to the case, to fill him in on the history of the Lorenzoni family. Piecing together what he has been told, and all those things left unsaid, the solution to the mystery falls into Brunetti's lap. But like a dog with a bone, Brunetti is not satisfied and he keeps digging for more.
Overall, a well put together mystery. For me, there were no surprises. While I didn't have the story exactly figured out by the end (I wasn't too sure of the motivation), I did have a pretty good idea of the players involved.
