And the Ass Saw the Angel

Item #3 of "Days of Goth Goneby." A true testament to my former Gothic passions, I actually invested money in this book, written by the Birthday Party's ever self-important front man, Nick Cave. It's not good. I tried for years to read it all the way through, and it was so horrible I could not do it. The quote on the back comparing it to 100 Years of Solitude seems to me most likely written by someone who a)has not read 100 Years of Solitude, b)is a card-carrying member of the Nick Cave Fan Club and c)is Very Goth. The characters and town described are so dirty and funky I could not read more than a few pages without feeling the need to bathe. Maybe I'm being over-dramatic here, and I am hoping that the person who finds this book can provide me with a comparitive perspective, and perhaps a couple of lines telling me how it ends.
