2 journalers for this copy...
Pygmalion by Shaw unites caustic wit like Wilde's with a humanist's sharp eye for the symptoms of class conflict inherent in English society, especially in those times a century ago. Not unlike Pygmalion of Metamorphoses, Prof. Higgins models and "chisels out" his dream woman. The human being Eliza is neglected by this ego-centric upper-class fellow, though. Happy ending thus cannot be guaranteed, I am afraid.
Much better play than the diluted "My Fair Lady" version. Read it - and write shortly, what you think about it, please.
The annotations etc. are none of mine; I purchased this copy 2nd hand, a couple of years ago. Since I am replacing it with a smaller copy, now this book may go on its journey through the world. As mentioned, please let me know whether the book is well ;-)

Nr. 273 - that sounds like ice becoming water. Yes, Shaw writes a fluent style indeed.
