Going to Australia in mbag for crimson-tide.

One of the joys of bookcrossing is to be witness to acts of great generosity. And so it is that tomato lady not knowing me or crimson-tide from a bar of soap has entrusted this book and several others to us.
Off it goes today. Travel well little book and I look forward to your adventures

I couldn't agree more, newk. Thanks very much to tomatolady for the sending and to newk for the sending on.
Looking forward to reading it.
Unfolding over the course of a single emotionally fraught day, this stunning novel encompasses a lifetime of dreams, regrets and reckonings. Maggie and Ira Moran are on a road trip from Baltimore, Maryland to Deer Lick, Pennsylvania to attend the funeral of a friend. Along the way, they reflect on the state of their marriage, its trials and its triumphs—through their quarrels, their routines, and their ability to tolerate each other’s faults with patience and affection. Where Maggie is quirky, lovable and mischievous, Ira is practical, methodical and mired in reason. What begins as a day trip becomes a revelatory and unexpected journey, as Ira and Maggie rediscover the strength of their bond and the joy of having somebody with whom to share the ride, bumps and all.
Regarded by many as Tyler’s seminal work, Breathing Lessons celebrates the small miracles and magic of truly knowing someone, and evokes Jane Austen, Emma Straub, and other masters of the literary marriage.

Oh dear! I found this back on my shelf in a place where it should not have been hiding.
I read this years ago and intended to pass it on, but forgot to journal it or pass it on.
So there you go . . . . :-/
I enjoy Anne Tyler's writing as long as I don't read too many of hers too close together. From memory this was a fairly typical one of hers; fleshing out the ordinary in her characters' lives and turning them into something definitely more than ordinary, especially the inter-relationships and family dramas. This was a 'one day in the life of' type of story, but contains much more than just what happens. She's good at interweaving characters' back stories as well as their hopes, fears and dreams into the mix. I do remember that Maggie both irritated and upset me due to her constant meddling. Certainly can't complain about the quality of the writing though.
