1364: The plague has returned and fear fills the air as the pestilence claims its first victims in Chesterfield. When the local priest vanishes, John the Carpenter believes the man is simply scared – until he discovers a body left in an empty house. Charged with finding the murderer by the coroner, John must dig deep into the past to discover who in the present has enough hatred to kill. But as the roll of the dead grows longer, can he keep his family safe from malign forces outside of his control? The third title in a gripping series following the best-selling titles The Crooked Spire and The Saltergate Psalter.

Posted to Cassiopaeia

Thank you ReetPetite, arrived this morning. Next up!

Enjoyed just as much as all the others! Thank you ReetPetite for allowing me to join this Bookray.I've really enjoyed Chris Nickson's books since he spoke to us in Leeds. I'm always trying to fill the gaps!

Arrived safely yesterday, I will put this to the top of the pile and read next :-)

Another very enjoyable read, thank you ReetPetite. Like Cassiopaeia, I've enjoyed reading Chris Nickson booke since we heard him give a talk at the Un-con in Leeds, they are not the easiest books to get hold of!
I hope to get this in the post by early next week.

This arrived last week just as I was leaving the house on a trip. Things are very busy here these days, and I have a number of other books I have to read quickly first, but I'll do my best to get it read and sent off within a reasonable amount of time.
Thanks so much for making this available and sending it.

This is the third book in a bookcrossing spiral, and I wonder if there can be a sequel to this as it seems to end very neatly.
In this our carpenter finally finds the excuse he needs to stand up to the coroner who seems to have little care for John's personal safety. It's hard for him to stay out of it completely, but he finds greater pleasure working with wood and his young apprentice.
A good read, and if there is a sequel, I'll be happy to read it.

Safely arrived in Hinckley. Have 3 books in front of it to read for other rings but as the weather is about to get proper wintry I reckon I'll be staying in to do more reading.
