The Wish

Found this in a little free library. I might like to read it.

Very predictable, and trite in its POV of an older, dying woman sharing her past stories of love with a younger person. And yet -- it was nice to get lost in this book for a while. I guess that's what Nicholas Sparks has going for him.

As always, I enjoyed this Nicholas Sparks' story. The friendship between Maggie Dawes and her Aunt Linda and Bryce Trickett was perfect for her as she finally felt the love for her and hers for them. Despite being pregnant at 16 and sent to Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina's Outer Banks, Bryce showed her how to love the town and introduced her to photography. It would become her life's work. With her aunts' love, and Bryce's friendship, her outlook on life dramatically changed for the better. Fast forward a few years, she has had the baby, moved back home with her parents, and then moved to New York, where she opened a gallery with another artist and featured their art, her pictures and his sculptures. Then she was diagnosed with stage four cancer and she is increasingly reliant on Mark, the newest employee of the gallery. I dare you to read this story without shedding a tear or two. An excellent story!
