"Christopher is fifteen and has Asperger's syndrome. He knows a great deal about maths and very little about human beings..."

I *really* enjoyed this book -- and that wasn't only because it was the first work of fiction I allowed myself to read after a month of exam preparation, sort of as a reward to myself that I had managed everything well.
"The Curious Incident" is an insightful story about the everyday life of an autistic youth, and, for all I can tell, feels authentic and makes the condition accessible to readers with no further knowledge about Asperger's syndrome.
What begins as a detective story turns, via a somewhat strenuous road-movie episode, into a tale about families and relationships; what might sound like a rather mundane subject and the stuff of your ordinary young adults novel is made special and unique through narrator Christopher's detached view on the world.
I highly recommend this book and plan to buy a -German- copy for the younger brother of a friend.

I'd recommend this book to anyone interested further in Asperger's syndrome: Martian in the Playground.
And then I was pointed to this article which might be of interest.
