Eleanor is befriended by Raymond after they try to save a man's life and suddenly her entire life changes. It is a book about loneliness, humanity, kindness and companionship. It is about how we live now with social media, peer pressure and our expectations of ourselves and others. It is very funny in places and very sad in others - a bit of a rollercoaster ride well worth taking. We really get to know Eleanor inside and out. I read a review that said “I loved Eleanor Oliphant in spite of her quirkiness”. Well I loved her because of her quirkiness. In fact I related to her so much I began to get a bit worried. I loved this book. It made me laugh out loud and weep too. It was so sad but I was rooting for her rather than pitying her.
